Obedience Arena & Class Schedule

Performance Puppy Class: For puppies 8 to 16 weeks. The goal of the class is to teach the pups how to learn, pay attention, and to prepare them for agility or obedience foundation classes. Toys and treats are used for reinforcement. Clicker training is encouraged, but not required.

Handlers teach simple obedience cues like puppy's name, sit, down, stay, and practice short recalls with minimal distractions. We work on keeping the pup's attention for limited periods of time.

There are short sessions of puppy/puppy interaction, but the class is not about dog-to-dog socialization. Handlers play with other puppies in class so the pups get used to other people.

Puppies are encouraged to walk on an unusual surface each week, such as a tarp or metal grate -nothing frightening. We also talk about common challenges like housetraining, crate training or grooming. If a puppy is going to be in the breed ring, we'll work on special training for that as well.

Family Dog Manners: Class covers the things all pet dogs should know: sit, down, stay, walking on leash, polite greetings, and other skills to make your dog a pleasant, well-mannered member of the family!
